Meet Our Team
Nancy has owned and managed Castle Rock Arabians since 1971.
Nancy has a lifetime of involvement with horses, including dressage, western pleasure and competitive trail. For 25 years, she conducted group rides in 22 wilderness areas, teaching wilderness ethics and how to camp with your horse.
For over 30 years, Nancy has owned an Arabian horse training center. Horses she has bred were trained and shown by Lacey's Arabians and are used in CRA summer camp.
In the late 90’s, Nancy formed a partnership with the East Bay Regional Park District to expand the operation to an additional 10 acres, including 2 riding arenas which are presently day camps with selected overnight camps for advanced riders.
Kathy is Nancy's daughter and grew up on horseback. At 12, she owned and showed jumpers at the local shows--Heather Farms and Concord Mt. Diablo Trail Ride Association.
Kathy then worked as an apprentice at Lacey's Arabians when it was located in Alamo. She trained with Dean and Sheri Lacey under the direction of the late Murrel Lacey. Training horses and handling stallions was part of her daily chores.
Kathy accompanied her former husband, trainer Rob Bick, to the various local and regional shows that brought her stallion Starskee to the championship. With her stallion she won English pleasure championships and western in the ribbons in all divisions. She also enjoyed the sport of long- distance trail riding under George Cardinet's influence. Kathy works with riders of all levels to make sure they perform at their full potential.

Instructor, CHA Certified
Rachel has her 3rd level certificate and is a favorite instructor with the campers. She assists in training horses and our apprentices. While she is firm with the kids, she is fair. This makes her popular with our apprentices!
Rachel takes the lead in running the Adventure Day Camp program during the summer, and during the winter she teaches our apprentices to drill. We are starting a new drill team, so Rachel's expertise in Drill Team coaching is needed more than ever.
She is currently continuing her western riding with Dean and Sheri Lacey. Her ambition is to one day own a barn and have her own students.
Gabriella has been riding for over 10 years. She owns 2 horses and rides and shows them up to the national level. Gabriella is an accomplished rider in English and western as well as sidesaddle. She loves sharing her passion with the younger kids and aspires to continue with young people and horses in the future.
