No matter your kid's age, count on our senior horse riding instructors to keep him or her safe. Our CHA-certified instructors have championship titles in regional and national competitions, so they know how to provide a safe environment for kids of all ages. Here are some things adults had to say:

"I wanted you to know that Olivia loved, loved, loved her private lesson. I am so pleased. I can see she will make much better progress in this manner! I am going to join her in "brushing up" lessons myself-what a treat."-Karen

I want to thank you for the wonderful riding lesson given to my 3 year old granddaughter Moriah today. Rebecca is a wonderful facilitator. She is gentle and friendly, putting Moriah completely at ease from the start. I especially appreciate how much time Rebecca gave to having Moriah groom Goldie before the ride and concluding the lesson by caring for Goldie afterward. During the riding portion of the experience, Rebecca's commitment to safety was evident. Thank you very much for an outstanding afternoon's adventure.

We have a great Apprentice program for 10 years and up

Castle Rock has provided a place for kids to grow up on horseback for over 40 years.  Learning to ride well is simply put:- Riding More!  Our nation was founded on horseback and we want to bring children back to the basics of understanding these animals and experiencing a ranch environment.  We offer a variety of disciplines from Horse Shows, Drill Teams, and trail riding.  We teach children how to manage their horses under all these conditions.

Let's Talk About Teens!

While the apprentice program seems to attract a young audience, there is still an immense benefit to having girls in the 'teen' and 'pre-teen' years a part of the program.

High school is a very influential time and therefore important for teenagers to be steered in the right direction.

The Castle Rock Apprentice Program offers time and discpline for teenagers to stay on track with commitment and with responsibility.

As an older apprentice, teens will learn the responsibilities ranging from mucking stalls to 'hot-walking' them after a ride and everything in between. They will be around teens their own age and will form a bond into solid friendships.

Apprentices are encouraged to come to the ranch on weekends and after school until sunset where they are continuously working either on the ground or in the saddle. The time here keeps them from being bored, from finding their own means of entertaining themselves, and keeping them away from negative influences. The instructors, staff, and other apprentices are a positive influence in the teenagers life, showing structure, stability and positive reinforcement. Having dependable and positive role models will help teenagers maintain a healthy relationship with themselves and others, as well as help with school and home behavior.
